About
Klyvora connects U.S. real estate investment firms with Big Four-caliber accounting and financial analysis professionals in India. By rigorously vetting and selectively placing long-term talent, the company has become a trusted resource for equity-backed real estate groups and institutional asset managers.
Challenge
Fragmented and complex compliance steps slowed a time-sensitive launch
When a major client opportunity required Klyvora to legally employ people in India, the company needed to move fast to lock in the engagement. Up to that point, the firm had relied on contractors to support its U.S. clients with accounting and financial analysis work. But this project demanded a fully owned Indian subsidiary that could hire and manage employees directly.
Founder Zak Ellman understood what was at stake. Without a compliant entity in place, Klyvora couldn’t hire the talent needed to serve that client — putting a valuable relationship at risk.
But establishing a foreign entity was unfamiliar territory for Zak. Even with his paperwork translated into English, each step was time consuming and hard to navigate. To get the subsidiary registered, Zak had to manage unfamiliar filing systems, call multiple government offices across different time zones, make sense of unclear requirements, and do it all without any way to confirm he was on the right track.
To streamline the process, he evaluated a handful of entity management firms. “There were a lot of companies saying they could handle the whole process,” Zak says. “But they were just brokering the work out.”
He couldn’t afford to stake an urgent launch on a middleman who wasn’t actually leading the process. Even a single misstep could delay registration by months, putting the entire deal at risk.
Instead, Zak needed a partner who could move fast, explain every step clearly, and manage the work end-to-end. That search led him to Commenda. When he reached out after hours on a Friday night, someone picked up the phone right away. After one conversation, Zak was ready to move forward.
“Time was of the essence. If we didn’t get the subsidiary registered quickly, we wouldn’t have been able to support our client the way we wanted to or attract new employees in India.”
Solution
Fast entity formation and ongoing support through one trusted platform
Onboarding was so straightforward that Zak managed every step from his phone while traveling in India. After he shared Klyvora’s basic details, Commenda’s platform got to work, incorporating the new entity, organizing its corporate documents, and setting up a compliance calendar to track deadlines.
Instead of coordinating between multiple government offices or managing disconnected systems, Zak had two people at Commenda he could always reach: Logan and Neeti.
And they both brought deep expertise to the table. “Logan had set up his own entity in the past,” Zak explains. “So he’d already gone through the exact same things we were dealing with.” That meant Zak had someone who could walk him through complex procedures and answer his questions in plain language — something a generic solution simply couldn’t offer.
Meanwhile, Neeti reviewed every registration form and banking document before it reached Indian authorities or Klyvora’s banking partner. This extra layer of support screened for potential issues before they turned into delays or rejections. In one case, when translated forms arrived with tricky formatting and unclear fields, Neeti flagged the issue and corrected it upfront, avoiding what could have been a months-long registration setback.
For Zak, having a team that stayed close to the details and took ownership of the process was invaluable. “The team was invested in our success and bent over backward to get everything across the line,” he says. “I don’t think other firms would have pushed so hard for us.”
Thanks to that support, Zak didn’t have to become an expert in unfamiliar filing systems, spend hours guessing his way through paperwork, or track down updates. Every document, filing, and requirement was organized in one place, giving him a clear view of what was complete, what needed attention, and what came next.
Today, the ongoing partnership matters just as much as the entity setup. Klyvora relies on the platform to keep the subsidiary compliant as the business deepens its client relationships and scales its India-based team.
“Commenda set up our Indian entity from start to finish, and they’re still managing it for us today. Without them, I honestly don’t know if we’d have gotten set up in India on time.”
Results
A compliant subsidiary in 5 days and a partner that simplifies growth
With Commenda, Klyvora won the engagement and established a compliant subsidiary in time to keep the business and client relationship on track — without a single missed filing obligation along the way.
The impact:
- ~1 year of entity setup time saved with end-to-end support
- 1 point of contact managing formation, filing, and compliance
- 5 days from kickoff to a live, compliant entity
For Zak, the partnership does more than take complex work off his plate. It gives him the confidence to say yes to more opportunities.
“With Commenda, we were able to take what was a genuinely chaotic stretch and turn it into a period of growth. I couldn’t ask for a better partner.”
